Guide: Skåne’s 5 best road trips
Guide: Skåne’s 5 best road trips
Take your motorcycle, vintage car or regular car out for a spin and head off on great trips. Skåne’s best road trips follow wonderfully long country roads and offer driving experiences through beautiful landscapes, rolling fields and scenic areas.
We share 5 of Skåne’s best road trips for different experiences. The middle of Skåne is known for the opportunity to experience great trips by motorbike, vintage car, camper and car. There are country roads here for both day trips, long trips and group rides. In addition, there are a number of meeting points where you can meet other enthusiasts.
1. The Country Road
Start one of Skåne’s best road trips in Eslöv and drive road 113 towards Gårdstånga. Turn off towards Skarhult and then continue towards Hurva. You drive past the Skåne plains and rolling fields. At Hurva you continue north towards Ringsjön and you pass road 17 on the way to Södra Munkarp. With a lovely view of Ringsjön on the right side you can enjoy the journey towards Stehags church. There you keep to the right and pass Sjöholmen and Ormanäs. After Ormanäs it is time to stop at Backagården for lunch or coffee.
Backagården is often a good meeting point for people interested in cars and MCs. They also offer accomodation for those who want to stay for longer.
Continue the route towards Sätofta where you can make a detour at Jägersbo camping. Here, refreshments are served and there is a swimming area to use when the weather permits. A little further south is Fulltofta where there are nice hiking trails and you can have a coffee at the Fulltofta nature center. Enjoy nature and good coffee.
Play a round of soccer golf
To continue the route along smaller country roads and open countryside, drive towards Slagtofta, Äspinge and then turn south towards Köinge, Boarp and towards Östra Sallerup. Here you drive west again over road 13 and then north towards Söderto. Here you can take a break and play football golf at Söderto football golf.
From Söderto, Hörbyvägen goes towards the village of Löberöd and past Löberöd Castle back towards Skarhult and Eslöv.

2. The Group Tour
Another of Skåne’s best road trips is for those of you who want to drive together in a group. Start in Malmö by taking the highway via Burlöv to Lund and then continue along the small roads past Södra Sandby, Flyinge and Skarhult towards Bränneriet’s Gård where it’s easy to park and you can all enjoy some really good home-cooked food and coffee.
The tour continues on country roads with lovely views towards Remmarlöv where there is a beer brewery. Guided tours of the brewery can be booked there. Then you continue on towards Västra Strö, Rönneholm and towards Norra Rörum. After Norra Rörum you can turn north to take a detour towards Tjörnarp which is a nice little village to discover. If the weather permits, there is a nice swimming spot at Tjörnarpsjön.
Meeting points for motorcyclists and veteran cars
Then take the small, lovely roads past Södra Rörum. A good place for many motor vehicles and groups of riders to stop at is Ekerödsrasten. If you want to drive a little further, continue past Ekeörd and the E22 towards Svensköp and Killhult. There you will find Lina & Eva’s country store, which is a meeting point for many different types of motor vehicles. They often invite you to barbecue evenings during the summer months and large events for motorcyclists and vintage cars.
The wonderful nature on this side of the middle of Skåne and the lovely country roads will then take you towards Önneköp where you can both have a coffee and shop at the country store.
The road back towards Malmö goes via Östraby, Harlösa and Torna Hällestad. Perhaps you will extend the feeling of the countryside and continue past Genarp, Vismarslöv and Bara before you are back in Malmö.
3. The café tour
One of Skåne’s best road trips starts on the west coast and then winds along the country roads to try different coffee shops in small picturesque and unusual places in the middle of Skåne. Northeast of Kävlinge you will find Reslöv Olstorp’s café which is a coffee shop in an old mill. Unfortunately it is only open for events. So if you are a group going, it is worth booking.
The small roads from Eslöv towards Söderåsen take you past Stockamöllan and Billinge. If you continue the small roads towards Höör, you can have waffles at Sweets on the Streets at Västernäs Handelsträdgård in Höör during the summer months.
Otherwise, you can continue a bit south of Höör, between Östra and Västra Ringsjön down towards Bosjökloster. Here you can have a coffee or eat at MAT & KaKa or at Bosjökloster Slott & Trädgårdar. Take the opportunity to take a walk in the park and enjoy the view towards Ringsjön.

Farm style fika and retro cafés
If you drive from Höör on the north side of Ringsjön towards Hörby, you should definitely continue further east towards Östra Sallrup to have a coffee at the bonnafiket Butik Gul. A true farm experience where good food is served and you can find a lot of flea market finds. They won Skåne’s best café in 2017 by Magasin Skåne, so it’s always a nice coffee shop. They are open during the season and some weekends. Otherwise, Önneköp bakery is a safe bet. They are usually always open on weekends.
The coffee shop that touches and leaves lasting memories is Kafé Kagan. Here you are thrown back 100 years in time and you are served freshly brewed coffee in old-fashioned tableware and homemade cakes. You can also buy fine old-fashioned nails, shirts and other little things.
From Kafé Kagan and Hemmenköp take Degebergavägen past Fränninge and down to Vombsjön. Here you can have a coffee at Sjögården’s café by Vombsjön. They are known for their waffles and coffee served in traditional beech jugs. If you are craving something more substantial, drive all the way to Skafferiet in Harlösa.
The coffee-hungry person drives on towards Flyinge and stops to peek into the nursery and have a coffee at the café before the journey takes you back towards the west coast.
4. The historic route
Another of Skåne’s best road trips is a tour for those interested in discovering sights and historical sites. For some of the places it may be a good idea to check opening hours before departure. But most of them you visit on your own and guide yourself with the help of information signs. So bring a picnic or stop at one of the many coffee and food places along the way.
From the west coast, take the small roads towards Stockamöllan and Billinge. There you will find Gamlegårds Hembygdsmuseum. An exciting place that was mentioned as early as 1283 in the archives of Lund Cathedral. Here you will find, among other things, a cottage complex from 1739 with preserved furnishings, handicrafts, an old inn building, a shoemaker’s shop and a trading post.
Continue on to Höörs mölla – a café that is an old wheel mill by the Höörån in Stenskogen. It is open during the summer season and well worth a visit if you are craving waffles. Once there at Höörån, you can take the opportunity to look at the sculpture Mittelen by artist Lars Ekholm. Mittelen is intended to mark the center of Skåne!
Continue north from Höör towards Tjörnarp and discover Gunnarps brickworks, which was a major employer in the area in the late 19th century. A piece of industrial history that ended in the mid-20th century. Here you guide yourself through the old buildings of the mill with the help of information boards.
Magical springs
From Höör you take Södra Rörumsvägen towards Onsvalakällan which according to legend is said to be the source of Odin. The water in Onsvalakällan is so clean that you can drink it. You need to park your motor vehicle and walk the last part. Enjoy the place which is magically located in the middle of a forest.
Have you developed a taste for springs? Then you can visit the Sankta Magnhild spring just a few kilometers south. Sankta Magnhild was a pious woman who took care of the poor and sick. She was declared a saint and many made pilgrimages to her grave. Her remains are in Lund Cathedral.
While you are here, also visit Fulltofta Church, which is located in a fantastic location with a view of the plain and Ringsjön in the distance. The baptismal font is made of sandstone and there is also a window in the church that describes the story of Sankta Magnhild.
Exciting ruins
On small roads past Osbyholm and Lyby you then make your way towards Söderto. In the middle of the plain you will find Söderto Fortress. A spectacular building that was constructed in the 1950s by an elderly farmer who wanted to defend himself in case the Russians came. He used old bed frames, pots and parts of cars for his construction.
Then drive on small roads south towards Västerstad. Here you will find a church ruin from the latter part of the 12th century. The church was made of whitewashed sandstone and was built by the same stonemason whose name is found in Dalby Church and Lund Cathedral. Sometimes the place is used for open-air services. But many people think that the old bare ruin feels like something out of a horror movie.
Nostalgic BP-petrol station
From Västerstad you drive south towards Harlösa. A small, nice village in the middle of the countryside that boasts an old BP petrol station. All year round, vintage cars are parked at the petrol station and signs are lit up as they used to be. However, you cannot refuel here.
Then drive via Flyinge back towards the west coast.

5. A route through nature
If there’s one thing that’s in the middle of Skåne, it’s beautiful nature. One of Skåne’s best road trips is being able to go away for a weekend and combine it with good food, drinks and beautiful nature.
Drive out into the countryside on small roads past Torna Hällestad towards Harlösa and then Vombsjön. Here you can stop at Borstbäckens nature reserve. You can bring food or coffee from Harlösa skafferi or Sjögårdens café. Then drive further north towards Hörby. Take the small roads via Löberöd, Söderto and on to Fulltofta. There is a fantastic green area with both longer and shorter walks. Here you can also have coffee at Fulltofta Naturcenter.
Then drive a short distance north to Villa Granliden to enjoy the evening and night there. They have a fantastic garden to enjoy and a little further into the forest there is a barbecue area by a small stream where you can grill your evening meal.
A view of Ringsjön
When it’s time to rest your body and mind, check into Kvarnbyn at Ormanäsgården. Each cottage has room for up to 6 guests. You also have a nice terrace with a barbecue and a view of Västra Ringsjön and the fields around! There is also plenty of space next to the cottages to park cars and motorcycles.
The next morning, a trip north towards Tjörnarp, Sösdala and Tykarpsgrottan on many nice country roads offers. Then turn south again to eat at Hardys, Höörs gästis or Stiftsgården Åkersberg. After that, Frostavallen’s hiking trails and nature are a nice afternoon trip to take a walk. It is very close to Höör so if you want to take a detour along lovely country roads, take the road around Norra Rörum in the north or drive south via Bosjökloster and around Västra Ringsjön towards Frostavallen in that direction.
Sleep beneath the beechs
If you want to sleep close to nature this night too, check in at Nyrups Naturhotell. Here you stay comfortably in comfortable beds in woolen huts in the middle of the forest. Dinner and breakfast are included. With a nice hangout in the wood-fired sauna cabin in the evening, you will feel tired and happy when you go to bed at night. Lulled by the rustle of the deciduous trees.
From Nyrups Naturhotell you then head south on the small roads towards Rönneholm, Västra Strö and stop for lunch at Bränneriet’s gård. Then it’s not far back to the west coast again.
