Äspinge Kött was started by Sara at the Brotorp stable in Äspinge. We have raised lamb and free-range pigs for many years. Since 2018, we have also sold horse meat. From 2025, we will be investing even more in horse meat.
The horses are purchased before slaughter and come from breeders that I collaborate with. They stay with their breeders until slaughter to avoid the stress that a new home can contribute to.
All animals are born, raised, slaughtered, cut up and packaged in Sweden. The meat comes from healthy animals that have lived according to Sweden’s strict animal welfare law, which includes outdoor living and a ban on antibiotics for preventive purposes. The animals are slaughtered at a small farm slaughterhouse outside Hörby.
The goal is for consumers to be able to buy high-quality horse meat that is traceable all the way back to the individual animal.
On the farm you will find a farm shop with, among other things, cut-up parts and processed products made from meat from horse, pig, etc. Check Äspinge Kött’s social media for current opening hours.
