Guide: fall vacation tips for the whole family

Christoffer Borg Mattisson

Take the opportunity to do something fun in Skåne during the autumn holidays. Here we have collected 7 autumn holiday tips that are suitable for the whole family.

Whether you have a day off or not, the autumn break is the perfect time to do something a little extra fun. Many places have extended opening hours, and some have great offers to take advantage of. We’ve gathered a few different tips for you. From big to small, indoors and outdoors, and from slightly pricier options to completely free ones.

1. Spooky fun at Skåne’s Djurpark

Skånes Djurpark is open throughout the autumn break, and the whole park is filled with colourful adventures. Here you’ll find, among other things, a haunted forest with a ghost hunt, Skåne’s scariest food, loads of pumpkins, and mysterious smoke-filled paths where you can solve mysteries. You can also carve your own pumpkin and join the harvest festival with Shaun the Sheep. If you want to experience lots of animals and adventures, stay the night in their accommodation Shaun’s Wagons or in a cosy, fully equipped tent cabin right in the realm of the red deer.

2. Spa with the family

Longing for a quiet moment on your own or with the whole family? There are three different spas, all offering family spa packages during the autumn break. Elisefarm and their autumn break package “Youthfull bliss” includes a three-course dinner, overnight stay, breakfast buffet, and spa admission for everyone aged 12 and up. At Höörs gästis, the whole family can enjoy lunch and an autumn-break spa for everyone aged 8 and up. At Stiftsgården Åkersberg, families with children aged 10 and up are offered daytime spa admission, plus a pancake buffet.

3. Ride gentle Icelandic horses

Head out together and try a two-hour riding tour. The gentle Icelandic horses at Aspås Turridning i Fulltofta have been ridden by both 4-year-olds and 80-year-olds. So whether you’re a beginner or more experienced, you’ll have a wonderful experience together. If you join a three-hour tour, a nice fika is included.

4. Adventure and cosy time in the forest

If you want to enjoy quality time with the family, the best way is to switch off your phones and computers and head out on real adventures. Spend a night at Nyrups Naturhotell, snuggle up in the beds, enjoy good food around the fire, and simple togetherness.

5. Ghost walk in Stockamöllan

On 28 October, it’s time for the year’s popular ghost walk in Stockamöllan. Along the lantern-lit path, you’ll encounter ghosts of all kinds. A spooky and thrilling experience for both children and adults. Sturdy shoes or boots are recommended. Flashlights and dogs must stay at home.

Near the parking area, the grills will be lit, where you can grill the sausages you’ve brought—before or after you walk the route. Starts take place gradually between 18:00 and around 19:00 near the parking area.
