Guide: Different experiences in Skåne

Christoffer Borg Mattisson

Fancy trying a different accommodation? Different experiences? Then you’ve come to the right place! With us in the middle of Skåne you can create memories for life!!

In MittSkåne, you’ll find wonderful nature, beautiful lakes, and enterprising small business owners who offer many exciting and unusual experiences and adventures.

Glamping with a forest spa

For example, you can stay right in the middle of the Scanian beech forest at Nyrups Naturhotell. With nothing but birdsong as your closest neighbour. Here you stay comfortably in Turkish yurts, without running water or electricity, but with cosy beds. This is glamping at its very best.

For instance, book a unique two-night stay with a bathhouse and forest spa. A weekend of relaxed hanging out in the woods with that extra special touch! Here you’ll have plenty of time for good conversations and togetherness—both around the fire as you cook dinner and in the bathhouse with warmth from the wood-fired sauna and wonderfully cold, refreshing water to ladle over yourself beneath the treetops and the sky.

With wild animals right outside the door

The coolest place for families with children is probably staying at Wild Lodge – an adventure you won’t soon forget! The two-day adventure in the realm of the red deer includes two full days at Skånes Djurpark with all attractions and experiences, a comfortable overnight stay in your own tent cabin equipped with two bedrooms, social areas, a kitchen, and a unique location with red deer as your neighbours. Breakfast, dinner, and unique guided tours are included!

Have fika in a tree and swim from a floating sauna

Fika is part of Swedish culture—coffee, juice, and something sweet. But why settle for visiting a café when you can have fika high up in a tree? Book with the tree climber Embla and try tree climbing and fika with the world’s best view. Guaranteed fun for the kids… and for the adults too 🙂

A calmer, more peaceful unusual activity is sauna bathing from a raft. On Lake Tjörnarpssjön there’s one you can rent for you, your family, and friends. Take the chance to enjoy the forest around the lake—it’s magical. Just a stone’s throw away, the Skåneleden Trail begins. It continues down toward Frostavallen and Höör—a hike of about 20 km.

So it works perfectly to take the train to Höör, hike to Tjörnarp, swim from the floating sauna, and then take the train home from Tjörnarp. And before you go, you can enjoy one of Skåne’s best pizzas at Lankaféet in Tjörnarp. A unique café which, in their own words, is the result of two quirky minds who changed up their lives. There’s always a project going on here—new menus and chatty food enthusiasts. Their goal is to create a meeting place that connects the community we live in—both on the plate and between the tables.

Meet the world of cannibals … and storks

Want to get your nerves tingling? Then you should visit Sweden’s only cannibal museum – Arnold’s Cannibal Museum. Arnold the Adventurer takes us to the jungles of Africa and South America and to the vast world of the South Seas. Here you can get acquainted with remote cannibal tribes and pygmy peoples. These are exciting encounters with unfamiliar and exotic people who live close to nature in humid jungles and on bone-dry islands. The journeys to these faraway tribes are far from the beaten track, sometimes in small, rickety boats along winding waterways lined by nearly impenetrable vegetation.

Prepare for a powerful encounter and a fantastic opportunity to get really close to the stork! This majestic bird can be seen at Fulltofta stork enclosure. If you come here in spring, you may get to see the stork chicks being fed. On a guided tour, you’ll hear the story of the stork’s history in Skåne—about its disappearance, the project’s work, and of course the spectacular migration.
