Celebrate Midsummer in the heart of Skåne – here are our best tips!
Midsummer is one of the most beloved holidays of the year – and in MittSkåne it is celebrated with pride, traditions and great community. Whether you want to dance the little frogs, dress the pole together with others or just enjoy the summer atmosphere, there is something for everyone. Here we give you tips on some of the most atmospheric celebrations in Eslöv, Höör and Hörby and the surrounding area – and when they happen!
Eslöv
Stockamöllan | 9:30–17:30
In the idyllic village of Stockamöllan, Midsummer is celebrated in classic style with traditions that date back to the 1910s. The day starts at 9:30 with a gathering at Udden where the Midsummer pole is dressed. After that, fiddlers and visitors march to the meadow where the pole is erected. At 16:00, the dancing and games begin. A wonderful all-day event – and it’s completely free to participate.
Löberöd | 9:00–13:00
Löberöd’s Local History Association invites you to a Midsummer celebration in the square. At 9:00 there is a gathering at Hantverksgården to chop birch logs, and after that the pole is dressed together. Around 11:00 the Midsummer dance begins and lasts until 13:00. Here too, admission is free.
Flyinge IP | 13:00–13:00 13.00–15.00
A child-friendly celebration where all children who help decorate the pole are treated to ice cream! At 13.00 the decoration of the Midsummer pole begins and an hour later, at 14.00, the dancing starts to live accordion music. The school’s future sixth graders will be selling snacks on site. Free admission.
Trollsjö area, Eslöv | at 13.00–16.30
The celebration at Café Våfflan offers Midsummer wreath-tying from 13.00. At At 3:00 p.m. there will be a dance performance by Ringsjögillet to music from Harpolirarna, followed by dancing around the pole and old-fashioned games. The circus group Cirque Arté Diem will provide the entertainment. Free event.
Höör
Bosjökloster | 12:00–4:00 p.m.
A grand midsummer celebration in a castle setting. Visitors are welcome just before noon. 12:00 to join in decorating the pole in front of the castle. At 12:00 the pole will be erected, and then there will be dancing to live music by Åse Alexanderson and Mats Spelman. The castle and its exhibitions will be open throughout the celebration. Admission fee applies.
Berggrenska gården | 9:00–15:00
A cozy Midsummer celebration in the middle of central Höör. At 11:00–12:00 the pole will be decorated with birch leaves, and at 12:00–13:00 children and families will decorate it with flowers. The first dance around the pole will take place at 13.00–13.30, and a second round of dancing is held at 14.00–14.30. Perfect for families with children!
Hörby
Södra Rörum | kl. 12.00–16.00
Traditional midsummer celebration at Husaren in Södra Rörum. At 12.30, stick horse riding begins for both children and adults. Dancing games and coffee service follow before the midsummer pole begins to be dressed at 13.30. An hour later, at 14.30, the pole is erected. The celebration ends with a service in the church at 4:00 p.m. Free admission.
